vantage points for watching the fireworks on national day

went down to collyer quay area to look for a good vantage point to catch the fireworks, which is the finale of the national day parade. the promenade at one fullerton is a promising site but it is bound to be packed with people come national day. they were in the process of erecting extra tents to cater to the expected crowd on national day.

clifford pier is out as it has been hoarded off for redevelopment and for the building of the marina barrage. the area around it is being developed into a retail, leisure and entertainment centre.
the merlion site is also quite small and it will be packed tomorrow. this area is adjacent to the promenade at one fullerton. tomorrow, there will be more singaporeans than tourists at this tourist attraction.

the one place i found large enough and which offers an unobstructed view of the firworks is at marina boulevard. there is an open grass patch facing the marina bay.

you can also line connaught drive/esplanade bridge to catch the fireworks from the road which should be closed to traffic during the parade. as it is national day, i think the police will allow pedestrians onto the benjamin sheares bridge to watch the fireworks.

another area which will be jam-packed with people is the esplanade waterfront promenade. you can actually go to the roof-top of the esplanade to watch the display. i am sure many people will have the same idea and so there will be a squeeze also.
