i had made arrangement to go with soo lin - who is back from indiana university for a short break - to eat the wanton mee at 12 rowell road. later, i found out that her former colleagues at admiralty were planning to give her a birthday lunch. it was then that i decided to contact nah to go down to clifford pier area to recce for good vantage points to watch the fireworks on national day.
once i found a suitable site, i decided to walk to waterloo street to eat indian rojak at the popular sajis indian food stall. it seemed the chicken rice stall to its right and the other indian stall to its left were more popular; there were long queues for food at these two stalls but not at the indian rojak stall.
anyway, i had my indian rojak and i shared the table with mr david lim, one time conductor of the combined schools choir and also the s'pore youth choir. in fact, he told me that he started the singapore youth choir in 1969, almost forty years ago.
according to him, ms jennifer tham is now the conductor of the syc and she is also the choir instructor for seven top school choirs in singapore. mr david lim looks after the centre but his main occupation is giving individual voice training lessons at united world college.
about the rojak, i am quite satisfied with it. i even asked for extra gravy to go with the four pieces of indian rojak that i had for lunch.
