the delayed changi coast boardwalk

our delayed monthly nature walk was almost aborted by the inclement weather this morning. it had started raining the night before and continued into the next morning. it abated to a light rain at my place but at serangoon, siglap and tampines the rain was still heavy at around 7.00 a.m.

i was getting messages like "is the walk still on?" and "is it still raining over at your place". i checked the weather forecast on the nea website and based on it decided that we would go ahead with the walk. anyway, at changi, it was boardwalk and cemented path all the way to the 'sunset walk'.

seck yeong and teck seng were with me and ours was the first car at the lorong bekukong car-park. for the first time, lay bee decided to come along for the walk. the next car to reach was see thiam's, followed closely by puay heian's. kwan tuck hong had taken bus service 59 to the bus terminal. nah chuan wee, who had gone to another car-park, soon found his way to the correct one.

it was a record turn out for this get-together walk, our fifth since we started walking together this year. there were altogether 13 of us, with the teachers outnumbering the students, and the men outnumbering the women. thai soon travelled in puay heian's car, together with her two brothers. for betty nah, it was also the first time she was joining us.

as was the routine, we ended up at changi village for food to replace the calories we had burnt up. actually, it was to replace and accumulate because we expended about 300 calories and put back nearly 1000 calories each.

our next walk will tentatively be on 22 december at fort canning park.
